Another good week including the completion of my portrait of a strong black beautiful female. It was great timing for the movement Black Lives Matter. This issue is very important to me so I was happy and fully charged when creating it. The initial sketch was created last week.

My curiosity of masks

I will be studying some art movements in history that I like the sound of which has also led me down the route of rediscovering my curiosity and wonder of masks in different cultures. This week I read up on a selection and will be creating a series of masks. I am unsure of the final output so have initially sketched them out in pencil. It was great to see an idea to be generated after only one week of my creative journey.

I have swooned over @annariflebond style of illustration for years so it was only fitting for her to be my inspiration for this week.

After some investigation (the good kind) I had a go at recreating one of her designs using some watercolor pencils. It’s always fun to do this and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I believe so much hard work goes into these creations and mine is obviously a mess in comparison but it will definitely help me on my creative journey to learn from one of my idols. The original can be found on the Rifle Paper co website as a print, greeting card, and lovely cushion.
