The current offering was restricted and users had to create multiple dashboards to view the information they required and the method to select desired data was cumbersome. The user base has varying personas each requiring a different complexity, quantity, and frequency of data.
Allow users to make fully customisable dashboard(s) where they are in control of the data they wish to monitor and how it is displayed. Improve data selection by optimising the experience and breaking up tasks. Give the users functionality to share dashboards that others might find useful.
A streamlined tool that was designed to focus one task at a time without overwhelming the user. The use of carefully selected design patterns such as progressive reveal, breadcrumbs, selection count and an ‘organise’ mode that separated the layout and positioning of data tables from the creation and editing of data tables. Users were given 3 options for data density: spacious, comfy and compact in addition to the ability to resize the data collections to be able to span 4, 6, 8 and 12 columns with varying amount of detail. For mobile, further, exploration led to an optimal experience to display and navigate the complex data tables. The solution was to break up the data and use dropdown menus and clickable list items to reveal further layers of data.
